The finale of the “Golden Apple” awards is approaching! For the first time, the general public is participating in the selection of winners in all categories. The online voting has concluded with a record-breaking number of nearly 6,000 votes for their favorites. This year, 50 individuals, organizations, and institutions were nominated in a total of 7 categories.
On May 16th, the prestigious jury will convene, bringing together experts from various fields related to children’s policies. This year, the jury includes Elena Atanasova from UNICEF, Alexey Pamporov, a sociologist from the Institute for the Study of Society at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Dr. Boyana Petkova, Marieta Gecheva from the Lachezar Tsotsorkov Foundation, journalist Maria Chereshova from the Association of European Journalists, Yuliana Koleva from the National Association of Municipalities, Rumyana Parusheva from Siemens, Levon Hampartzumyan – Chairman of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF), and a representative from the youth network Megaphone.
The winners in the “Child Hero” and “Children’s Organization” categories will be determined by online voting. According to the new regulations, in the remaining categories – “School and Kindergarten,” “Journalist,” “Municipality,” “Hospital,” and “Charity” – the winners will be selected by the jury and the public. The nominations that receive the most online votes will receive an additional 2 votes from the experts during the voting process.
The awards ceremony will take place on May 30th in Sofia.
