The National Network for Children (NNC) is part of the consortium awarded the prestigious “Project of the Year” for 2024 at the 20th anniversary edition of the competition organised by the Lale Foundation. The award was presented at an official ceremony at the Sofia City Art Gallery on 16 July 2025.
The “Digital Children” project, implemented jointly by the National Centre for Safe Internet (safenet.bg), the Parents Association, the Bulgarian Association for Family Planning, and NNC, addresses one of the most pressing contemporary challenges – child safety in the digital environment.
The project aims to provide better protection and awareness for children, their parents, and teachers by supporting key online safety services in Bulgaria: the Online Safety Helpline and the Hotline for Reporting Online Crimes Against Children. It also invests in training, campaigns, and advocacy to ensure that children – especially the most vulnerable – are better protected, informed, and heard in the digital age.
The competition jury highly valued the project’s contribution to building a sustainable and effective safe digital environment. The award recognises the importance of collaborative work for the benefit of children and affirms that every child has the right to be protected – including online.
