The focus of the Week for Struggle Against Hypertension this year is the age limit of the high blood pressure affected people and especially the fact that it is getting lower.
This was announced by the chairman of the Bulgarian Hypertension League, Prof. Dr. Svetla Torbova at a press conference today (11/05/2012)
She noted that hypertension is the strongest single factor leading to deterioration in quality of life and premature death among those who are affected.
Cardiovascular risk increases when arterial hypertension is combined with elevated cholesterol, lack of exercise, obesity – factors related to the nutrition and lifestyle.
The head of the department “Food and Nutrition” at the National Center for Public Health and Associate Analysis Duleva Veselka commented the adverse trends in obesity, revealed in s a survey of students from first to twelfth grade.
