Save the Children`s 14th Annual Mother`s index report

Save the Children launched on May 7th, 2013, for 14th consecutive year its annual State of the World’s Mothers report.

The report includes Save the Children’s Mother’s Index, measuring the mothers and newborn babies’ welfare in 176 countries. In this rank, Bulgaria is on 43th place in general and on 4th place backwardsamong the EU member states, before Malta (45th place), Hungary (52nd place) and Romania (61st place).

In addition the report also features the new Birth Day Risk Index that ranks 186 countries by the chances a baby will die on the first day of life. Bulgaria has a level of perinatal mortality of 2 at 1000 live born babies in the first day of their life, an identic number as in Canada, Austria and Australia for example.
