The second edition of the LexTalks legal discussion forum of the National Network for Children and the Legal Aid Network of the NNC is coming up.
LexTalks 2023: CRIME AND PUNISHMENT
will be held on 30.11.2023 (Thursday), from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.,
in the Auditorium of SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
LexTalks is the only discussion forum of its kind in our country, which gives a platform to lawyers, human rights defenders, activists and volunteers from the civil sector, representatives of institutions, students and young people for a common dialogue on important legal problems and public causes.
LexTalks 2023 will focus on the topic of the fates of children in conflict with the law , often called “difficult” and “problematic”. For their criminalisation, sanctioning, rights, support and inclusion, for their stories, families and communities.
Five years after the end of the “Childhood without bars” initiative, which received the support of nearly 13,000 people, the forum will be the stage for an honest answer, with numerous examples of field work and documentary footage, to the question of how together – institutions and citizens – to address the problem of child criminalisation.
The speakers at LexTalks 2023: “CRIME AND PUNISHMENT” will be: judge Kalin Kalpakchiev (Sofia Court of Appeal, former member of the SJC and former president of the Union of Judges in Bulgaria), chief inspector Petar Petrov and inspector Desislava Tsankova (Child Crime Department to the General Directorate “National Police”), Yulia Georgieva (Center for Humane Policies, Pink House), Iva Boneva (Association for Shared Learning ELA), Maria Doichinova (Center for the Study of Democracy), Prof. Neli Petrova and Zvezditsa Kovacheva (ISDP ), Lyubomir Krilchev (UNICEF), Adv. Mariyana Evtimova (P.U.L.S. Foundation) and Elena Evstatieva (PI EF Bulgaria – Community for Conciliatory Justice).
