The National Network for Children has prepared and submitted its position on the draft concept for a new law on social services to the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
The National Network for Children’s main recommendations concern improving the efficiency of social benefits and payments, the need for a uniform criteria for the control of service providers, a review of the current system license for the provision of social services, the need for continuing education for social workers and a clear profile and framework of their professional competence.
The non-government organization also proposes a qualitatively new concept in the definition of services as a combination of activities with specified aims, so that the focus is on the realisation of human rights and children’s practice. Another new proposal by the National Network for Children is to engage users in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of social services.
