Construction of the National Network for Children\u2019s future community centre is progressing, and the dream of the Children\u2019s House is already taking shape.<\/em><\/p>\n

On 2 April 2026, we broke ground on the Children\u2019s House at 44 Sofroniy Vrachanski Street in Sofia. Just over four months later, the foundations of the future building are now in place.<\/p>\n

Construction continues with the next levels of the Children\u2019s House, which is expected to open its doors in 2028.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

What Will the Children\u2019s House Be?<\/h3>\n

The Children\u2019s House will be a community centre for early childhood development and a national centre for training and advocacy for children\u2019s rights<\/strong> \u2013 a space open to children and young people from across Bulgaria, regardless of their background, social circumstances or health status.<\/p>\n

The building will include halls for events and interactive activities, rooms for meetings and training, spaces for sports and play, a cafeteria, a kitchen and a small hostel, as well as working spaces for the National Network for Children.<\/p>\n

The centre will offer educational programmes on children\u2019s rights, financial and health literacy, entrepreneurship, environmental awareness, leadership skills and active civic participation. Children and young people will not only be able to take part in activities, but will also have opportunities to express their views, develop their own ideas and participate in decisions and processes that affect them.<\/p>\n

The Children\u2019s House will also be a place for parents and families, where they will be able to access support, information and a range of social and educational activities.<\/p>\n

It will also host training sessions, meetings and initiatives for professionals and organisations working with children. In this way, the Children\u2019s House will become a home for the National Network for Children community \u2013 more than 140 civil society organisations and activists from across Bulgaria \u2013 as well as a meeting place for civil society, institutions, businesses, professionals, children and families.<\/p>\n

The Children\u2019s House will also operate as a social enterprise, providing young people leaving foster care or institutions, as well as those in vulnerable situations, with opportunities to gain practical work experience and develop professional skills through the House\u2019s various activities.<\/p>\n

The cafeteria, kitchen, catering services and small hostel will be part of this model, offering young people opportunities to enter the labour market, while income generated through the social enterprise\u2019s activities will contribute to the long-term sustainability of the centre.<\/p>\n

Brick by Brick: Everyone Can Become Part of the Children\u2019s House<\/h3>\n

Through the \u201cBrick with a Cause\u201d<\/strong> fundraising initiative, anyone can contribute to the construction of the Children\u2019s House. The bricks are available at different donation levels, ranging from \u20ac50 to \u20ac300<\/strong>, with each one representing a tangible contribution to building the House. The initiative is open to individual donors, companies and organisations alike.<\/p>\n

Every donor will have a place on the future \u201cWall of Hope\u201d inside the Children\u2019s House. The names of those who supported its construction will be engraved on the wall, allowing children, families and everyone who visits the House to see the community of people and organisations that helped make this place possible.<\/p>\n
