The number of foster parents in Municipality of Shumen has increased with 60 %. In 2010 the number was 34 and it’s 55 last year. The number of children placed with foster families was 63 in 2010 and reached 130 for last year. With other words, the increase of placement of abandoned boys and girls is over 100 % reported from the Complex for Social Services.
„Our priority has always been the quality of foster care. Our task has been and will be to provide on-going 24 hours support to foster parents who look after children. We categorically disagree that these foster parents do this because of the money.
There’s no way for this to happen. A lot of qualities are required in order to become a foster parent and the most important of them is to open your heart and to accept a child of other people with the clear awareness that for a very short time you need to give everything from you because foster care is a temporary measure.
