The National Network for Children presented 13 practices for successful cooperation between non-government organizations and municipalities in the field of children and families policies on July 9th, 2013. The event was hosted by H.E. Mr. Philippe Autie, Ambassador of the French Republic in Bulgaria.
The represented projects aim to focus on the successful results of cooperation between NGOs and municipalities which have led to the development and implementation of better children and families’ policies and practices. The acquired experience during this fruitful collaboration will help the municipalities and NGOs in Bulgaria to improve and develop their practices in the implementation of social services and activities for children and families.
On the occasion Ginka Chavdarova, Executive Director of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB), Yanita Manolova, Deputy Executive Director of the Social Assistance Agency, Mukaddes Nalbant, Deputy Minister of education and science, George Bogdanov, Executive Director of the National Network for Children, representatives of public institutions, municipalities, non-government organizations and UNICEF Bulgaria were present.
The municipality of Veliko Tarnovo expressed its readiness to execute a joint project in partnership with the municipality of Bayonne, France. The project includes the provision of a building to NGOs of the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo where they will complete joint activities. This valuable French experience will be for the first time implemented in Veliko Tarnovo.
The 13 examined practices tell in a simple language exciting human stories, focusing the attention on comprehensive families services prevention and supply, development of alternative care forms such as the foster care, support to grown up children, living the care institutions, services or other forms of direct support provision as part of social initiative for effective social inclusion.
The publication “Handbook for good practices of cooperation between municipalities and NGOs in the field of policies and services for children and families” has been completed by the Embassy of the French Republic, the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB) and the National Network for Children in the frame of project “Good practices of cooperation between municipalities and NGOs in the work for children and families”. It is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.
