At its regular meeting today, the Council of Ministers decided to remove the maximum limit for releasing funds for treatment of children abroad. However, according to Prime Minister Boiko Borisov words the treatment could be carried out also in Bulgaria through invitations of foreign consultants.
The Prime Minister ordered the health minister Desislava Atanasova to secure the additional funds, necessary for the functioning of the “Fund for treatment of children” by the end of this year, through internal restructuring and optimization of the financial resources in the health system, announced by the government press-office.
The limit is removed but not enough
According to the Vice Prime Minister Simeon Diankov, the GERB government has increased four times the money in the fund. “We are aware that even with this limit additional funds are necessary for some cases”, announced the financial minister according to the verbatim report of the Council of Ministers meeting. However, he thinks that the health ministry should show where the money will come from and there’s a lack of such analysis until now.
