The highest number of babies born is in Sofia – 15 470, followed by the regions of Plovdiv – 7051 and Pleven – 2779. A total of 2285 newborn babies cried in the region of Blagoevgrad in 2014, informs dariknews.bg.
The birth rate information system to the Ministry of health announced the data.
The lowest number of babies born is in the region of Razgrad – 500. Compared to Sofia – city, in the region of Sofia have cried the shocking low number of 835 babies. Low birth rate is also registered in the regions of Vidin, Gabrovo, Smolyan, Pernik and Yambol.
The system recorded 63 000 new born babies in the period January 1st 2014/January 1st 2015.
The tendency of low birth rate and demographic collapse continues in Bulgaria. The last few years mark a sad record of the lowest number of newborn babies, the Ministry of health added.
In comparison 64 000 babies were born in 1997.
