To make 2016 a better year for children, we must focus on their rights and needs. They are not responsible for this crisis, yet they are paying the highest price.
As a National Partner Network of Eurochild, the National Network for Children – Bulgaria joins the advocacy efforts for a children-centred investment strategy based on 5 pillars: education, early years, health promotion, community development and family strengthening, social protection and welfare support .
UNICEF is looking for an international consultant or a team of consultants to assess the approaches for closure of infant homes in Bulgaria.
Between January and August 2015 alone, 174,235 children sought asylum in the European Union, representing one in four asylum seekers.
A child-centered investment strategy prioritises investment in five pillars: education, early years policies, health promotion, community development and family strengthening, and social protection and welfare support.
The National Network for Children strongly advocates for the development of a national policy for dealing with the housing problem of disadvantaged families, legislative mechanism for dealing with such situations and a resourced plan for a drastic reduction of the number of children living on the streets or in illegal constructions.
We appeal for people not to oppose and divide parents into biological and foster categories, but to talk about the needs of children and how they can best be met. We believe that every child has the need and the right to grow up in a family, to have a childhood and future.
We strongly support the provision of conditions to ensure the minimum standards of an inclusive environment for all children, i.e. accessibility, clean toilets, hot water, soap, changing rooms, gymnasiums, modern libraries with workplaces for self-study and group-work rooms and facilities for basic experimental work in natural sciences.
