Nearly 600 Children Are Placed In Foster Families For Year And a Half

A total of 580 children have been placed in foster families within the framework of project ”And I have a family”, implemented only for a year and a half  by the Social Assistance Agency, the administration department announced.

A total of 547 foster families have been approved while another 429 are under investigation process. The project has been implemented in 83 municipalities in Bulgaria. 254 babies have been placed in foster families, of who over 90 are newborn and have been fostered directly from the maternity ward to a family during the project realization. 279 children have been discharged from specialized instututions and other 116 have been moved out from residence services. The project “And I have a family”, to the value of 15 mln. levs, will complete by the end of 2013.
