The National Network for Children announces the start of project “Community school”, funded by Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The project’s main goal is to apply the community school model in 10 schools in Bulgaria. This model is based on the idea that the school is not only an institution, which offers educational services but also attracts to the educational process of pupils their parents, family, notable others and other important the life of the community individuals and organizations.
This model is particularly suitable for areas where heavy economic and social situation have broken the natural connections in the family and the community and the children do not receive full support in their development and growth.
In the beginning of October National Network for Children in partnership with the Regional Inspectorates of Education will open a selection procedures for 10 schools, where the project will start. The management and support of the introduction to the model of community school will be implemented by NNC’s member organizations.
Plamena Foteva is project’s coordinator. She has previous experience in the non-government sector and an extended experience as a high school teacher in Sofia and Kostenets as part of Teach for Bulgaria school leadership programme.
