In which town was approved the first Bulgarian foster care family?

There are 15 approved foster care families in Plovdiv in 13 of which there are children placed. It’s envisaged that children will be placed in the other two families at the end of the month. This was announced during the launch of the Mtel initiative “Foster a child. Create future” in support of foster care.

Plovdiv is the town in which in 2000 was approved the first Bulgarian foster care family which looks after two children until now. The first 100 approved foster care families who applied in 2012 will receive additional financial support from Mobiltel within the initiative “Foster a child. Create future”. The support will be in the amount of 100 leva per month for a year. The applications for foster care families could be submitted in “Social assistance” directorate in the respective town.

Partners of the programme are the National Network for Children, Bulgarian Donor’s Forum, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the State Agency for Child Protection.
