National Network for Children has launched a different donation campaign, which will be our priority in 2022. With it, we are raising funds so that we can continue our advocacy work for better policies for children and families – something that is difficult to understand for a wide range of people, but extremely important for the changes that the system needs in our country.
Humanitarian campaigns, which help specific people with money, food, home and treatment, are invaluable help to those in need, but, unfortunately, this is a temporary relief from systemic problems. Tomorrow the poor will be poor again, the suffering will suffer again, the sick will become even sicker. A fundamental change in the health, education and social systems is needed, and this is the purpose and meaning of advocacy.
This change is a process that must be activated and maintained and here is the role of civil society organizations – a major corrective to the work of institutions.
All this cannot happen in one day, with a change in a law or regulation or simply with an increase in funding – it requires daily, hard professional work. Systematic pressure is needed on responsible people and institutions to do their job better. This includes data collection, situation analysis, research, continuous monitoring of social processes, reaction to problems, criticism of policies that are not in the best interests of children, constructive proposals.
A better future for our children – this is the cause of our unification of 140 organizations of different types working in different fields across the country – associations of parents of children with special needs, service providers, human rights organizations. Every year, the Network’s organizations help over 140,000 children and 76,000 families. We know the system in depth and follow its development and problems for 15 years and we have the potential to work for quality change, important for all children, families and society as a whole.
That is why our donation campaign is different – you donate not to solve a specific household problem, but for the cause of a better future for our children. This process is long and we must all participate in it with systematic efforts.
