The European Commission is developing plans to address the social impact of the economic crisis through a “pillar of social rights”. Eurochild is engaging in discussions with the Social Platform to ensure that we have the highest commitment to children’s rights.
The Council of Europe will launch its Children’s Rights Strategy in early April, offering a concrete and multidisciplinary approach to protecting children’s rights in Europe. The civil society, including the Eurochild network, has a crucial role in ensuring that such a strategy is embedded in the work of our governments.
Big plans for 2016
It’s a big year for Eurochild as we hold our bi-annual conference this year in Brussels with our hosts ONE and Kind en Gezin, with royal patronage of the Queen of Belgium! For on our ongoing project on measuring the long-term economic & social value of investing in children we are finalising the selection of the research consortium. The outcomes of this project will be crucial for our future advocacy.
And the next phase of the Opening Doors for Europe’s Children, our campaign on deinstitutionalisation, kicks off in March! Members, get ready to vote in a new Management Board at the General Assembly this April! Save the dates and prepare your travel plans with our 2016 calendar!
