Today, 14 August, the public hearing of the candidates for Deputy Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria took place. Among the three nominees was Denitsa Dimitrova, nominated by the National Network for Children and the Karin Dom Foundation.
In her presentation, Denitsa Dimitrova demonstrated in-depth knowledge in the field of human rights, with particular attention to the rights of people with disabilities, children, older people, and vulnerable groups. She spoke with empathy, professionalism, and personal commitment, highlighting the need for a strong, active, and people-centred Ombudsman institution.
Her answers to the Committee’s questions were clear, well-argued, and filled with compassion for the real problems of citizens – from the difficult access to social and health services, through the reform of juvenile justice, to protection against unfair commercial practices and the rising cost of living.
The results of the hearing are expected to be announced by the end of tomorrow. On Monday, Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva will submit the proposal for election to the National Assembly.
We, at the National Network for Children, are proud of Denitsa Dimitrova’s performance – a worthy candidate who brings with her many years of experience, a personal cause, and the determination to bring about change in favour of the people.
