On 20th of November we celebrate the anniversary of the UN Convention on the rights of the child and National network for children in partnership with UNICEF Bulgaria organized for a second year the youth forum VOICE IT: Opinion that matters.
The event was held in the National Palace of culture and gathered more than 200 young people from all over the country, who discussed the rights of the children and their active participation in social life. The forum was co-organized together with the youth network Megaphone, which consists of young people in the age between 14 and 18 years old.
The aim of the youth event was to create platform for a social inclusion and to explain how the right of opinion and participation looks like in practice and reality. This way the forum became a practical instrument for social inclusion and an exercise for a social change and also a tribune for sharing experiences amongst young people.
The program began with a TEDx type of presentation from two young members of YN Megaphone who spoke about rights, the link between the right of opinion and the right of participation and the Youth network itself. Throughout the entire day there was an exhibition of 13 organizations member of the NNC who were asked to share their practices in the field of child participation. They were an active part of the Mission VOICE IT which challenged all participants to visit the stands, take part in the workshops 1 and 2(Child participation in school and judicial system), the workshop 3 and 4 (“Seekers of inequality”) and to leave their message on the Wall of thoughts.
